  • Description: Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education was founded on March 8, 1911 at the University of Illinois and incorporated on June 8, 1911. The Society was organized to recognize excellence in education and, like now, invited individuals who exhibited the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards, and promise in teaching and allied professions. Today, Kappa Delta Pi’s intergenerational membership includes the top 20% of those entering the field of education as well as award-winning and outstanding practicing educators. On January 27, 1980, the Omicron Gamma Chapter was installed here at Georgia State University. To date, over 600 chapters have been founded in the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Members of Kappa Delta Pi are individuals who have demonstrated worthy educational ideals, expressed and intention to continue in the field of education, manifested desirable professional qualities, and given evidence of leadership.
