Welcome

Welcome to the online home of the Georgia State Rock Climbing Club!

Practice times for Spring have been decided! Practice times will be Mondays and Fridays from 11-1. We will be holding practices at the campus climbing wall and bouldering cave at the start of the THIRD WEEK OF CLASSES. We will also be holding Stone Summit practices... times for this have not yet been decided.

About GSU Climbing Club

The purpose of the Georgia State University Rock Climbing Club is to provide an example of proper climbing safety use both on and off campus and most importantly to share our love for this awesome, intense, and majestic sport with the students at GSU. The club was founded by the students, for the students, thus one of our most important missions is to take in brand new climbers, and teach them the skills they need to climb with pride both indoors and outdoors. The club has also always been a haven for ALL climbers on campus to hang out with people that share their interests. As such, our club has an array of skill levels between its members: all the way from beginner to advanced. If you are interested in knowing more about the sport, and feel embarrassed about your skill level, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE! We want to show you that climbing is not a competitive sport; it is all about self achievement. If you want to know more, feel free to go to the campus climbing wall and get in contact with one of the following club officers:

Climbing Club President: Melissa Krasselt
mkrasselt1@student.gsu.edu

Vice President: George Stipick
Treasurer: Sharllyn Pimental
Member Managers: Douglas Schuster, Will Dunn, and Shelly Villarimo

If you have any questions you want to have answered by phone, please call our President Melissa Krasselt (706-993-6779), otherwise you can send us an email on the 'contact us' page.

The cost to join the club for new members is $25 for their first semester, and all returning members from the previous semester pay $20. This gives you access to our website, discounted climbing trips, rebated competition fees, private club climbing hours, and a climbing club tee shirt! We ask that if you are new to the club, you take a belay certification course sometime during the semester (a $2 clinic provided by Touch The Earth) so that you can belay your fellow club members during private climb hours : )

GSU Climbing Facebook is open to ALL climbers at GSU.
